Our Story

Welcome to Irisadre

Irisadre exists because the best plates are the ones you actually use.

Not the ones saved for guests. Not the ones too precious for a weeknight. The ones already on the table when the food arrives.

Every Irisadre piece is shaped by master ceramicists in Ojai, California, working in small batches using techniques that welcome natural variation.

You'll see it in the glaze pooling, the soft curves, the feel of clay left honest. Nothing rushed. Nothing overworked.

The forms are designed around food, how it sits on a plate, how a bowl is held, how a platter gets passed down a table. That's the starting point for every piece we make.

A woman standing outdoors in front of a peach-colored wall with blooming pink bougainvillea flowers. She is wearing sunglasses, a black short-sleeve shirt, and white pants. She is holding a bowl in one hand and a cloth in the other, smiling and looking down.

Our story

The roots of Irisadre are personal.

Hi I’m Rachel!‍ ‍

Born and raised in Swansea, South Wales, I learned early on that beauty lives in the simple act of gathering. Sundays were spent in my Nan’s home grown vegetable garden, making everything from scratch and using only the “good dishes” - it all planted the seeds of a lifelong love for food, craft, and connection.

From Food to Form

Years later, I co-founded The Vurger Co, a kitchen-table idea that grew into a multi-million-pound restaurant brand. That experience of building something physical, getting the details right, understanding how food and environment shape each other, is exactly what Irisadre is built on.

Irisadre isn't a lifestyle project. It's the next chapter of the same work.

What does our name mean?

Irisadre is a nod to my roots, phonetically pronounced eye-ris-ad-reh, it’s a combination of my Nan’s name ‘Iris’ and ‘Adre’ meaning ‘homewards’ in Welsh.

A reminder of where the idea started and what it's always been about.

Welcome to our table x

What makes us who we are

  • the underneath of a bowl with handcrafted words 'irisadre' on the bottom

    Made to use every day

Dishwasher-safe and durable enough for real daily life and its challenges! If you're treating it carefully, we haven't done our job.

  • a bike with bowls and flower in the backet

    Hand-formed in Ojai, California

Every piece is made individually in small batches. Natural variation in glaze and edge is expected, it's how you know it was made by hand.

  • a stack of sculptural wave plates 3 on top of one another on a white surface

    Founded by a restaurant operator

Ten years building and running food businesses. The forms are designed around how food actually moves, sits, and gets shared.

We’re building more than a tableware brand.

Good food deserves good plates. Not for the occasion. Every time.

If that's how you think about your table, Irisadre is for you.
